Gnosis is the Greek word for knowledge.  The Gnosis Club is designed to help children grow in knowledge and reverence of God thorough a systematic study of the Bible.  The Gnosis Club for Children (4 years old - 8th grade) meets each Sunday morning during the sermon time at University Park Church.  Children attend the worship service with their parents and are dismissed from there to attend the club.

To support parents in fulfilling their responsibility to train up their children in the deeds and statutes of the Lord, besides the Sunday morning study, each week there are five Bible readings to complete at home following a theme related to the lesson done at church.  The weekly family Bible study is passed out during the club time and is also included in the church bulletin each Sunday.  To encourage completion of the weekly family study children receive church "UP bucks" for reading the Bible passages and also for memorizing the Bible verse.  "UP bucks" can be spent at the UPC store which is held periodically during the year. 

Students 5th grade and older are encouraged to keep a Gnosis journal and are rewarded for doing so.  Journals are passed out in the Gnosis Club and are also on the information board in the foyer.

Becoming a Gnosis Leader

It is often said that the best way to learn something well is to teach it.  We are looking for UPC members who want to personally grow and develop in the Lord and desire to work with the children in the Gnosis Club. A teaching commitment is for three months a year.  Since the club meets during the sermon time on Sunday mornings the teachers are provided with a recorded CD each Sunday of the previous week's sermon.  All new Gnosis Club leaders are trained by a master teacher before teaching alone.  Please prayerfully consider getting involved to receive and be a blessing to others.  If you would like to be a leader, contact the church office.
